Acute Postherpetic Neuralgia

I have an unfortunate malady that surfaced after 40 days hospital care due to shingles. Before I knew what was going on, I continued with my daily happenings and scratched until there was a large lesion on the bottom back side of my back. Needless to say, this circumstance was mentioned to be the worst case of shingles ever at this hospital.

I have diabetes and have not been told after three years of this problem that it may have an effect on the healing of this nerve problem.

It's been 3+ years and I haven't found a cure or an intervention suitable enough to say "Thank You". I have had a TENS Unit and Spinal Stimulator implant and neither have provided sufficient enough ease to stay with either. Medications have been plentiful, at least those I am able to take because of the eventual impact on my kidneys. Epidurals and cortisone shots have not worked and even intervention at the so called premier "Duke University and Mayo Clinic" have failed to offer any sustained relief from this problem.

I have tried to find chat rooms that talked about PHN and have been unable to find any substantive information that could guide me to some source of relief.

My last alternative being offered is to consider some form of Rhizotomy which frightens the hell out of me. If there is anyone out there with information that could help guide me to the right place for treatment? I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you, Isaiah
