Celebrex for Back Pain

Advertisement:
Celebrex for back pain is a popular brand name of the generic drug Celecoxib. It is also sold in some countries under the brand name Celebra. Celecoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

Celebrex is used to fight inflammation and relieve a variety of pain syndromes. Celebrex has similar pain relieving qualities to many OTC drugs, such as acetaminophen, but it known for being particularly gentle on a patient’s digestive tract. This makes it ideal for patients who have a difficult time taking most pharmaceutical remedies due to extreme sensitivity in the gastrointestinal tract.

However, not all is positive with this product. Celebrex remains controversial, since other drugs in its class have been associated with serious health concerns. This is a fact that every user must know and consider carefully before taking another pill.

Risks of Celebrex

Celebrex for Back Pain The majority of all NSAIDs share common risk factors and side effects including: mild gastrointestinal effects such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Continued use of NSAIDs has also been linked to kidney problems. Celebrex was specifically designed to minimize stomach and intestinal discomfort in patients requiring a pain reliever long-term.

Celebrex has also been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke in some patients. There are ongoing studies to determine if this is a risk specific to certain types of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or the entire NSAID class as a whole.

Bextra and Vioxx, which are very similar drugs, have already been removed from the market due to known problematic side effects which may prove fatal. This sent fear into the population currently using Celebrex, even though the drug remains available.

Recommendation on Celebrex for Back Pain

Any drug that has any link to a severe health risk such as heart attack or stroke is not recommended.

Why take a chance with your health?

The pain relieving qualities of Celebrex are not much more effective than common OTC products which feature far less risk for serious health complications.

If you have been taking Celebrex as a pain reliever, consider talking to your doctor about alternative treatment options for your symptoms. Better yet, consider a holistic non-pharmaceutical method that will have no side effects whatsoever.

Remember, even if Celebrex works well for you, it is still a symptomatic treatment and will not cure your pain. Eventually, you should find a therapy option which will cure the underlying condition responsible for your symptoms, rather than covering it up with pharmaceutical relief.
